Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil - Review & Giveaway

One of my goals for this year was to feed my family healthier foods. I have been doing a fairly good job at that. I have canned and frozen a ton this year, which will allow us to continue to eat healthy, garden fresh produce through the winter. I have been reading a lot about coconut oil and its health benefits. When I first received my coconut oil, I was sick, so it sat in the box on my counter for about a week. When I finally felt well enough to take it out of the box, I wasn't quite sure what to do with it. So it sat (box less this time) on my counter for a while longer. I had found a recipe for a homemade deodorant using coconut oil and baking soda that I would love to try. The only reason I haven't yet is because I'm not quite sure what to store it in.

Anyway. I finally got around to figuring out what to do with my coconut oil. First, I substituted a few tablespoons here and there of coconut oil in place of vegetable oil. When we made tostadas, I fried the tortillas in the coconut oil. Per Erin's suggestion, I have been adding a few teaspoons into our everyday meals. I even gave our border collie, who has very sensitive skin, a teaspoon or two with his food once a day. His coat is shinier and his skin is no longer cracked and bleeding. (It was bad. And nothing we gave him helped.) A's eczema is just starting to come back. It seems to flare up every once in a while and I can't figure out what triggers it. I have read on other blogs that coconut oil has helped with eczema. So I'm starting to rub some on his skin after his bath. We'll see if it helps!
