Giant Trip 3/29
I was so excited to go to Giant this week to get my extra dollar doubler coupons. I had at least 5 different transactions planned using them. I went in and there were NO doublers in the ads at Giant! I was so disappointed. When I got home, I went to A Full Cup and it said there that sometimes they don't put the doublers out until mid week. I'm headed back tomorrow hoping they will be there!
Here's what we ended up walking out with:
5 cans Pillsbury JR Biscuits - $.91 each
1 can Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls - $1.67
2 loaves Giant wheat bread - (marked down) $.75 each
1 bag Gold Medal Flour - $1.50
1 bag Pepperidge Farm Goldfish crackers - $2
Total before coupons - 12.41
Total OOP - $6.51
I received a $3 OYNO catalina from the Pilsbury.
Coupons used:
(2) $.30/2 Pillsbury biscuits
$.95/1 Pillsbury sweet rolls
$.75/1 Gold Medal Flour
$.75/1 Pepperidge Farm Goldfish
For some reason, only one of the $.75 coupons doubled. The others were marked to double but didn't. I'm not sure why.

CVS Trip 3/27
This was just a quick run in because I had 2 CVS coupons that were expiring. The first coupon was sent to me in my email and was for a free CVS body wash or brownie bites(they were out of them). The second coupon was for a $1/1 CVS hair care product that I got by scanning my card at the coupon center.

Hard Cooked Eggs
Because Easter is right around the corner, and Easter usually means dying eggs, I wanted to share with you the way I found makes the best hard cooked eggs.
I used to boil mine for twenty minutes, but I always ended up with cracked shells and cooked egg all over the pot. That is fine for when the eggs are just going in salads. But when you're going to dye them, the shells need to remain intact. Ever since I've cooked my eggs this way, no more broken shells! (And hubby says the eggs taste better too).
The best way I've found to cook my eggs is on the American Egg Board website:

The best way I've found to cook my eggs is on the American Egg Board website:
- Place eggs in saucepan large enough to hold them in a single layer. Add cold water to cover eggs by 1 inch. Heat over high heat just to boiling.
- Remove from burner. Cover pan. Let eggs stand in hot water about 15 minutes for Large eggs (12 minutes for Medium eggs; 18 for Extra Large).
- Cool completely under cold running water or in a bowl of ice water. Peel and eat, or store unpeeled in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

How to Get Started at CVS
The first thing you need to do is get yourself an Extra Care Card. To do this, simply ask a cashier for an application. Or if you would like, you can sign up online. (I would suggest asking for it at the store. If you don't, you'll have to wait for your card to arrive in the mail.)
You need an Extra Care card for several reasons. First, it gives you the opportunity to take advantage of sale prices and Extra Buck deals. When you purchase these qualifying items, the Extra Care buck will print instantly on your receipt and you can use it like cash toward future purchases. For example, this week when you buy Colgate for $3.99, you get back $3.99 in Extra Bucks. In addition to weekly Extra buck deals, they also have monthly Extra Care buck deals. You can also earn quarterly Extra Care bucks based on your spending. With every in-store or online purchase you make, you'll earn 2% back. For every two prescriptions you fill (both in-store at CVS.com) you'll earn 1 Extra Buck. And don't forget to register your email address!
After you've gotten yourself an Extra Care card, it's time to grab a CVS ad. They can be found in store, [usually] in your local paper and always online. Find the best deals and create a scenario that will end in the lowest out of pocket expense and the highest Extra Bucks back. If you don't feel up to the challenge, there are some great bloggers that will do this for you.
Basically you're looking for an item that is FREE or almost free after ECB (Extra Care Bucks). You'll pay cash (or credit) for the item and get however much you paid in ECB. If you have coupons for these items, use them! That way you'll end up with a "moneymaker". The ECB will print at the end of your receipt - clip them and keep them as carefully as you would cash (I keep mine in my wallet with my cash).
Your goal should be to "roll" your ECBs over weekly AND to “grow” them so you have “overage” to use towards other things you want/need to buy. How do you do this? By stacking a manufacturer’s coupon with the free-after-ECB deals. For example, this past week, Colgate was on sale for $3.99 and you got back $3.99 in ECB. I had a $1/1 Colgate coupon making my total OOP $2.99 and I got back $3.99 to use on a future purchase.
Some additional tips I have learned when shopping CVS:
- Always have them scan your card before they start ringing up your transaction.
- Get your coupons in order before you get to the register so that your transaction goes smoothly.
- If you have an ECB that is for more than what your total is, they can either manually reduce it down and just take off the amount of your total (you will lose the rest of your ECB) OR you can add on a small item to make up the difference.
- There is now a scanner near the entrance that prints out CVS coupons you can use on your shopping trips. Be sure to scan your card each trip to see what coupons you'll get.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me, or leave them in the comments!

Call Me Crazy...
If you read my blog, you know I have 2 dogs and 2 cats (one of them pregnant). In addition to my four legged babies, I have two boys, an almost 5 year old and an 18 month old. And their daddy...
Hubby had said a few weeks ago that we should get the boys a bunny. My response was "NO WAY! You know who would end up taking care of it! And it wouldn't be you. Or the boys." And that was it.
Until...
It's OK if you're calling me crazy. Because I sure am.
Hubby had said a few weeks ago that we should get the boys a bunny. My response was "NO WAY! You know who would end up taking care of it! And it wouldn't be you. Or the boys." And that was it.
Until...
We were at storytime yesterday, and like every year around this time, a local farmer brought some bunnies in for the kids to see. He just happened to sit down right beside me and start talking to me about how he was selling them. Stupid me. I asked "oh, how much are you asking?" Then I looked up at C who had a bunny cuddled around his neck. And over at A who had one on his lap and was shrieking "look mama! bunny!"
So. Instead of spending a relaxing evening with hubby on our anniversary, we all loaded up and went to Tractor Supply to get our new four legged family member a home.
It's OK if you're calling me crazy. Because I sure am.
(Although, the boys have been fighting over who gets to feed the bunny. And water the bunny. And even who gets to clean out his cage!)

The Man Behind the Woman
Three years ago today, my husband and I said our wedding vows.
I can't believe it's been three years! Sometimes it seems like just yesterday we were planning our wedding and sometimes it feels like we've been married for years.
He is my rock. My knight. He treats me like a princess. He's such a goofball and I love him to death.
Happy Anniversary babe!

WFMW - "Make a Light"
One thing my husband and I didn't notice about our house when we bought it is that there was no light switch on the far side of the kitchen. There is one by the back door, but you have to walk through the kitchen to get to it. Hubby got tired of stubbing his toe on the table (or the boys toys, or the dog dishes...) when he got up in the mornings to go to work. We looked at getting a switch wired into the wall but that was way more than I wanted to spend. I had seen somewhere light switches that you just stick to the wall, but I couldn't remember where. So he invested in a light that sticks to the wall. All you have to do is push on it to turn it on. It is placed low enough on the wall that the boys can use it also. It's not very bright but it lights up enough so we can make our way to the light switch. And that works for me!

Meal Plan Monday 3/21 - 3/27
I am already exhausted and the week is just beginning! This week will be totally different than the past four. Hubby is back on first shift (for now anyway) So we will be eating from our meal plan (hopefully). I will actually have to cook. The past four weeks I have done hardly any cooking. And I've loved it!! We've been eating leftovers or simple things that hubby would never eat for dinner. As much as I love cooking, I love playing outside with my boys more. And since we fenced in our backyard over the weekend, I love being out there even more. I am working on planning a OAMC event hopefully in the next week or two. I am going to rely on those meals to get me through the summer when I do not want to come inside to cook!
This week will be an almost repeat of last week.
Porkchops - hopefully on the grill
BBQ chicken sandwiches
Santa Fe Foldovers
Chicken Soft Tacos (freezer meal)
Pizza
Burgers
Leftovers
How did your week go? What are you eating this week? Leave a comment and I'll come check out your menu! Check out lots more menus at OrgJunkie.com.

ReUsies Review & Giveaway - CLOSED
Our family has been working on going green for a while now. We recycle everything we can, we've switch all of our light bulbs to ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs
. We have a compost pile, we grow and can our own produce. We're trying to replace all our paper products (paper towels, napkins, etc.).
I was packing the boys lunches one day and realized that every day our family goes through at least 5 Ziploc baggies. FIVE! That's a lot of waste! And even though I have been buying the Ziploc Evolve baggies which are made with 25 percent less plastic and manufactured using wind power the point is, they are getting thrown away. So I did a little research and found these wonderful, reusable baggies. Reusies.
ReUsies™ are a re-usable alternative to sandwich/snack bags, each one has the potential to eliminate hundreds of plastic bags. ReUsies™ are 100% cotton lined with leak-resistant nylon and are secured with Velcro® closures.
If I bought just 2 sandwich bags and 2 snack bags, our family would save at least 20 plastic baggies from being thrown out each week. That's 1040 baggies a year! That is $199.16 a year (buying at full price). Um yea. I'd gladly buy a few Reusies.
So I contacted Reusies and the company graciously sent us a set of sandwich and snack bags to review. There was one thing I wasn't crazy about. But other than this one thing, I loved them!
This is the print we were sent. Can anyone see why I wasn't crazy about this particular bag? :)
Other than the print, these bags are awesome. Although I didn't send this one to school with C, we have taken them in the car, to the park, and to story time. I was at first worried about the items inside falling out because it is enclosed by a single Velcro strip. But that never happened and the bag stays closed very well!
And, Reusies are not only washing machine safe, but also dishwasher safe! This worked out very well for me as I usually only do laundry once or twice a week. But I run the dishwasher at least once every other day.
I will more than likely be buying more of these bags ( I just need to show hubby the numbers! ) and if you want to buy some of your own, go HERE. The sandwich bags are $8.75 and the snack baggies are $6.75. And while yes, they are a bit more expensive than a box of baggies, in a month or two, you'll be buying another box of bags. With the Reusies, you'll make a one time purchase and be set to go for a long time.
Becky, with ReUsies, has generously offered one of my readers a chance to win 1 sandwich bag and 1 snack bag for themselves!

New Carpet in the Living Room!
I hated my living room carpet. It was stained, it stunk and it was coming up in places. I wanted more than anything to put hardwood floors down but when we went to Lowes to get the floor, we realized we were going to have to redo the hall floor too if we chose hardwood. And it cost over $700 just to do the living room. So. I picked carpet that would hide some of the dirt that my boys drag in. And hubby and I installed it. All. By. Ourselves. Go us! (We are still learning the whole DIY thing :)
This is a before picture:
During:
Isn't this gorgeous? I LOVE this floor. But there's spots that are stained and very uneven. Plus, theres a 2 foot by 2 foot spot that was replaced. The wood and color is different than the rest of the floor. And that spot is about 1/4 inch lower than the rest of the floor. It would cost lots of money to redo this floor.
our two helpers.
After:
I took this picture and then realized you couldn't really see the carpet...
(and incase you were wondering, all the toys are picked up, the living room is still organized!)
So I took this picture of the carpet.
I think the carpet looks great! I'm being extra careful this time around, haha. No shoes, drinks, or food on the carpet. And the dogs feet get wiped off every time they come inside. (Our backyard looks like a mud pit, the carpet would be ruined already if I didn't do this.)
We were going to get new furniture, we need new furniture, but we decided we had to put a fence up instead. A keeps running into the road and Ryleigh, my boxer in the pictures, broke her "heavy duty non breakable" chain again. I just hope the 6 foot fence holds her. Hopefully the rain will stop long enough this weekend for us to get that put up.

Meal Plan Monday 3/14 - 3/20
I'm still trying to figure out some snacks that will freeze well and that my boys will eat. This week we added some pretzels in addition to the apples and pears. I've tried making homemade yogurt, but it never comes out very good. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to try some fruit and grain bars but I'm not sure what else to do. Still open to ideas!
The menu is pretty much a repeat of last week. But Wednesday is my sister's birthday so I'm hoping to head down to my mom's house to spend some time with her. We'll have to wait and see.
Out
porkchops
BBQ chicken sandwiches
Steamers (freezer)
Potato Soup (freezer)
Santa Fe Foldover

Happy Birthday to Me!
Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday dear ME, Happy Birthday to me!
My dear 10 cup food processor has a huge crack in it. (And I honestly have no idea how it happened!) Then I dropped my 1 cup food processor trying to get it out of the cabinet. So that has a hole in it. But I was planning on using it until I found a good deal on a new one...thinking it would be awhile before that happened.
Since my birthday is tomorrow hubby wanted to buy me a new one. Me, being my frugal self said OK! But not until I find the one I want at a price I want. I had been looking at them online and found a Black and Decker one for $40. But it was only 3 cups! I wanted and needed something bigger for the summer when I make my salsa.
We ran into Lowe's to get some stain and hubby insisted on looking at the food processors. We found this one on clearance. But there was none left except the one on the shelf. There was no box or manual or anything. So I asked the manager if they would give me a discount on top of the clearance price.
He did. And I got my 10 cup food processor for under $40!
Happy Birthday to Me!!

My Giant Trip - 12 Frozen Ravioli + 6 Itibitz for $3
My Giant trip was just as good as Mindi's except I did it on a smaller scale. I wanted to make sure my boys would eat it - and I'm glad I did. I'm not big on ravioli and I don't like Itibitz (just like Dotz). C was the only one who liked the ravioli. All three boys liked the icecream so I might go back and get more of them if there is any left. I think I'm going to try the ravioli in a ravioli lasanga. If we don't like that, C will be eating a lot of ravioli. :)
Do you have a great ravioli recipe? I'd love to try it! Leave it in the comments!

My Pantry - End of the "Challenge"
I showed you my pantry at the beginning of the challenge, so here it is at the end of [my] challenge.
this looks SO much better and I know what is in here!
so much cereal is gone, still so much to go!
notice all the brownie boxes that are gone? The boys made brownies twice a week for the longest time! And we're running low on pasta sauce...
the freezer is still packed full...
I don't know why this picture is so dark. The freezer is still so full and so unorganized!
(see my girl trying to get some goodies?)
this looks really empty too. Time to start stockpiling again.
So I have decided to stockpile for my pantry and eat out of the freezers. I need some room for the food my mom and I are planning to cook on our OAMC day!
