Tropical Traditions Whole Wheat Flour Review & Giveaway**CLOSED**

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

One of the ways I am working to get my family to eat healthier is by switching most of our grains to whole. As usual, hubby is the hold out. I have been experimenting with different whole grains in our recipes. The first couple I tried, we didn't like at all. Then, I was given the chance to review Tropical Traditions Organic Whole Wheat Flour.

Organic Stone-Ground Whole Wheat Bread Flour - 5 lb. BagThe first thing I made with the flour was these dinner rolls. I usually use a blend of white flour and whole wheat. Because I really wanted an accurate taste test, I used only the whole wheat. I was totally surprised that the only real difference in the roll was the color. The rolls was a deep brown color, which turned my family off, of course. Once I persuaded them to try a bite, they were hooked as well.

Since then, I have used this flour in everything I've made - potato rolls, pancakes and artisan bread using 100% Whole Wheat Flour. We have not been disappointed once. In fact, I actually prefer the whole wheat flour over white now.

Great River Organic Milling uses old fashioned stone wheels to grind their grains. Conventional millers today use steel grinding mills, and they “temper” grain before grinding it by soaking the grain in water so they can “pull” the bran layer apart and take out the germ and endosperm. This produces a white flour that has a long shelf life. Great River Organic Milling, on the other hand, is one of the few granite stone millers left in America. They use a slower process with less heat involved, and nothing is removed from the grain. All the nutritional components of the grain go back into the bag. These flours are ground to order in Wisconsin especially for Tropical Traditions, and have been used to craft some of the finest artisan breads in the United States.

One of my readers is going to win a 5 pound bag of Organic Stone-Ground Whole Wheat Bread Flour

  30. Well, I know I'll eventually be trying the shredded coconut since that's number one on my list but something I really want to try that isn't on my current shopping list is the coconut peanut butter. I've actually never liked the peanut butter brands I find in my local stores but I'm thinking I might have found one I'll eat!

BTW, I signed up for The Tropical Traditions Newsletter and I follow Tropical Traditions on FB. So that should be 1 + 3 + 1 = 5 entries total. Wow, do I really need to comment 5 times? Okay, here I go then!
